“My Ubercomputer can kick your Ubercomputer’s ass with a left-left-right combo and then finish it off with a drunken rabbit kung fu throw in less than a nanosecond.” –Mandy
District: Megacorp Valley
Occupation: Cyber Security for SKARS Corp.
You wouldn’t think it at first glance but Mandy works for the darker side of Megacorp Valley. Her role is to fend off the t8ny amount of elite hackers and enemies trying to take down SKARS Corp; the nastiest of all the megacorps headed by infantilised tech nugget Lord Garf.
If you’ve read through many of the earlier biographies thufar, it’ll come as no surprise that Scotch Mike is attempting to recruit Mandy to help him eliminate the SKARS digital infrastructure and take Lord Garf down forever. Mike’s trying to achieve this by, among other methods, employing Good Boy Ray to imitate an employee in The Cyberspace who she’s never met in the real world and who feeds her incorrect intel.
This dynamic becomes incredibly dicey from the get-go; when Ray meets Mandy for the first time. The more Ray chats with her about the history of megabyte evolution and the joys of downloading lost arcade games to his Monkey Chip, the more he begins to yearn for her beautiful boobs and brains. He never thought it possible that one day a lady Sap was able to share his enthusiasm for “shadow click theory” and the arcade relic Out Run.
But the main problem is the same as everywhere in Cyberia: candy. SKARS Corp adores Mandy because she’s the best cyber security guard in the industry. Her paycheck is monstrous. Why on earth would she join Scotch Mike’s team of mercenaries and see her lucrative career go up in smoke?
This is where the players take over. Between them, they have to devise a strategy to kill her, distract her or recruit her. They must tread carefully because there are serious consequences whichever way they play it. And killing her would not only waste a vital waste, it would also sound the alarm.
Of note the trademark glasses Mandy wears, designed by none other than Viv Bastard, are some of the most sophisticated technology in the spectacle tech industry. Only the best can afford them.
These glasses allow her to maneuver through The Cyberspace undetected and to strategically plant Cybervenom all over town, causing bedlam for anyone trying to get inside SKARS.
Plus when you have several of the most talented Saps in Cyberia on your tail, it’s not so easy to rely on real world hacking such as blowing up a lift when several of the dream team are in mid swing. Furthermore, if Mike does manage to recruit Good Boy Ray and manages to tame his wedding tackle then such tactics become cheese. Or to be more precise: a ten year old lump of mozerella left out in the sun.
