“I’m Yakuza. Mess with me and you’ll be tomorrow’s sushi.” -Mr Kwong
District: Temporary citizen of Greaser Suburbs via Tokyo.
Occupation: Broker of elite Japanese vehicles and modification parts.
Mr Kwong is one of the rare playable characters who isn’t a resident of Cyberia and whose backstory extends beyond the shores.
Despite having a distinctly Chinese surname, Mr Kwong is supposed to be Japanese. Furthermore, he is a member of the Yakuza which has only a tiny presence in the Cyberia Universe yet appears to be feared by everyone in much the same way that children are scared of the bogeyman.
Mr Kwong and the Yakuza have a thriving relationship with the muscle loving greaser gang. He supplies thoroughly illegal Japanese vehicles and parts to them for resale. This is achieved because everybody down at the Cyberia Port is routinely paid off by criminal organisations who use the infrastructure solely to import and export arms, drugs, sexbots etcetera. Plus nothing is really illegal in Cyberia anyway.
This is why the Cyberpigs only ever carry out searches when they want to acquire illicit goods rather than doing their actual job of seizing them and launching a criminal investigation.
Mr Kwong also weilds a lot of power. Anyone who gets in his way is essentially putting a noose around their own neck. Legend has it that he once had an entire private chauffeur service executed because one of their drivers caused him to be late for a Swedish massage.
In all the pages we have read, there are zero references to the slightly ridiculous mask worn by Mr Kwong. He might wear it to hide most of his face or, more likely, it might have some utility such as a sweat absorber or a kinky fetish.
The Russians Are Coming!
There was a time when the Russian Quarter was totally off Mr Kwong’s radar. However, in recent months there have been whispers that the status quo is about to get shaken up. The greasers know what’s about to go down and they’re making moves to stay one step ahead.
The situation is particularly tricky because the greasers need to keep Mr Kwong on side. If the Russians manage to flip him then the greasers will be up against the wall.
As the land presently lies, Bronqo is keeping the relationship running smoothly. However, in such an unpredictable climate, there could well be any number of surprises. Either way things are about to escalate.
Preferred Weapon: Spud-1. No further information.
Favourite sushi: Smoked eel offal with a water beetle crumb.
