We’ve come across yet another treasure trove! In a musty file we found these images which, taken alone, are pretty damned great. More great, however, is that we’ve also found the idea behind this Cyber Heads Database which also sheds some light on the Cyberia’s Most Wanted files which we’ll touch on later.
The database itself was going to be a potential recruitment hub to help playable characters briefly employ a Cyber Head to carry out a mission. Kind of like the anxiety-inducing corners of the deep, dark web. Yet every time somebody employed a Cyber Head, it came with a risk.
A playable character would have to pay half of the total Candy upfront and then the rest upon completion of the contract. The reason for employment could be for anything; from covering up a crime scene to locating weaknesses in other playable characters to assassination attempts. The possibilities were endless.
However, success wasn’t guaranteed. The employee might get caught and shot dead on the spot, they might take the Candy and disappear or they might turn up with a gang of cyberturds who abduct you and then only release you once you give them every last piece of Candy you own. The odds of these consequences happening appear to be low. Yet the risk remained. It was all decided by that exciting roll of a d20.
We actually think that this layer to the game is great in theory. We also know that Andy Peck came up with it. This is despite the fact that his previous job was in finance and for several weeks he didn’t have a scooby what the cyberpunk genre even was. By the time he left, he was still unsure. Apparently the only genre he seemed to know anything about wasn’t even a genre; it was anything starring Angela Lansbury. Such, such simpler times.

When unravelling this project, we’ve seen many different design styles. Some work, some are ridiculous and some exist between the two. Speaking only for myself this design style sits alongside Mr Mystery and that big cuddly bear Dmitry. Unfortunately we don’t know who is responsible for creating these images, but they’re impressive to say the least. Our I’ll-Google-it level forensic analysis tells us these photographs weren’t taken alongside the Cyberia’s Most Wanted cock rock mugshots which were awful in comparison.
Most notable is that they’re also the closest to a serious cyberpunk aesthetic that we’ve seen and we live in hope that we’ll come across other aesthetics which are just as dazzling. While some of the mugshot subjects are hilarious (I’m looking at you Mr Bowlcut), the fuzzy black and white effect contrasts perfectly with the green digital text, target boxes, symbols and whatnot.
As previously mentioned, from this discovery we have also found the purpose of the Cyberia’s Most Wanted files. We originally presumed that they were going to be used for world building only, but it turns out that Peck was a busy dude [read bored as fuck] once he slipped his Air Jordans on.
